A Quick Weekend Trip To Seattle, Washington
Are you ready for a weekend trip to Seattle, Washington?
Seattle is the largest city in the state of Washington. The scenery is beautiful and a literal playground for those who love to be outdoors. There are beautiful forests, parks, and mountains that are available for hiking, walking, sailing, rock climbing, and swimming.
I always start by looking for a good discount, and sharing what I can, so this post contains affiliate links, which means I will make a small commission if you click and/or make a purchase.
Location
Staying in the downtown area allows for easy access to some of the biggest tourist attractions the city has to offer. The metro train station/ Monorail is easy to walk to and one of the best forms of transportation to get to the major attractions.
There is so much to do, and it was hard to decide which ones to squeeze into my quick weekend trip to Seattle.
I purchased a CityPass and it helped out a lot. If you plan a trip here, give yourself a few days to genuinely enjoy all that the city has to offer.
Food
Pike Place Market
This place is a seafood lovers haven and offers the options of fish, crab, shrimp, oysters and other under the sea delicacies. The seafood is fresh, and you can also see the well-known fish toss. There are also multiple fresh fruit and vegetable stores for those who want healthier options. Pike Place Market is a pillar in the culture and is definitely one to add to the list of must-see attractions on a weekend trip to Seattle, Washington.
…and take a picture with the pig!
Biscuit B*tch
Plan to eat good while on your weekend trip to Seattle. The Biscuit B*tch is a place some of the locals enjoy. There are multiple locations, and the biscuits and gravy are good. Some good options are the B*tchwich bacon sandwich, and the B*tchwich Egg & Cheese sandwich.
Coffee, Coffee, Coffee
Not much else to say. Seattle is known for coffee and I feel like there was a Starbuck’s on every corner. If you love coffee there will be plenty of options. Stop and grab a cup of coffee on your weekend trip to Seattle, even if you’ve never had coffee before. It will be worth it to try in this city!
Attractions
The Gum Wall
The Gum Wall has been in Seattle since 1993. It has literally become a piece of art in the city. The array of colors, and unorganized randomness led to a beautiful “masterpiece.” The wall adds to the character of the city. The fact that it is chewed gum can be a sickening thought…but simply take it for what it is, participate, and enjoy the collage it has become. It is a tourist attraction, but by all means a picture of it would suffice instead of going to see it in person. It is right next to Pike Place Market and easy to access.
Space Needle
Do not leave Seattle without going to the Space Needle or your visit would be incomplete. I hopped on the Monorail and took a ride over to this attraction. It is 605 ft tall and is an icon to the city, being one of the greatest landmarks. Once at the top of the Space Needle you get a picturesque view of the city.
If you have a fear of heights and choose to stay on the ground, the gift shop is a great place to hang out and purchase some awesome items.
Museum of Pop Culture
The museum is right next to the Space Needle and is currently open daily from 10AM – 5PM. It is a must see on your weekend trip to Seattle. There are multiple activity stations and exhibits to see. The exhibitions do change so check out the website to see what is happening the weekend that you are visiting. The museum also offers great programs and educational workshops for families of all ages.
Other great attractions to visit:
- Chihuly Garden and Glass – Next to the Space Needle & Museum of Pop
- Seattle Aquarium – Great experience for the kids – Will need adequate time at this location to enjoy all that the exhibits at the aquarium. (Approximately 1.5 hrs) They are currently open 9:30AM- 6PM.
- Woodland Park Zoo – Great family attraction and will consume a good portion of your time. (Approximately 2-3 hrs) They are currently open 9:30AM- 4PM.
In a city like Seattle it is best to get your tickets to these attractions early. The best option to tour the city was to use a CityPass. You have the ability to see multiple attractions at a discounted rate, and it is a great savings.

Overall, Seattle is a great city to visit. It’s best to stay for at least 2- 3 full days, in order to really explore the city. Pack your walking shoes, and dive into all the city has to offer.

Seattle, Washington is definintely on our list!! I figured that one day, when we’re taking an Alaskan cruise, or visiting Canada, that we’d throw it in there. But it seems that there’s so much to see that it might have to be it’s own destination! Thank you for sharing these great suggestions! I may have to skip the gum wall though!
LaToya
Yes, it’s great to spend a couple of days there! You can definitely skip the gum wall. LOL

At this point I’d love a quick trip anywhere, especially to Seattle where there’s a Pop museum.

Seattle is really a beautiful city! I have only been once but we definitely checked out Pike Place Market!! Unfortunately the days we were there they were experiencing rain storms and had set record rainfall records so we couldn’t explore as much as we wanted…and that’s really saying something for Seattle haha.
LaToya
It really is, sorry you all got rained out. Maybe next time! 🙂

Smart to stay downtown Seattle – the driving around there is awful! I have a nephew there, and my brother lives an hour north, so I’ve been there many times; I could spend a week there, easily. The Chihuly museum is not to be missed!
LaToya
Yes, I’m so glad I opted to stay downtown, it was perfect. It’s a nice city, the museum was also nice and in a great location.
