Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica

Arrival

My husband and I arrived at Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica on a Monday afternoon. Immediately, concierge greeted us with towels to help us cool down. Our luggage was placed in a holding area and we were walked to the check-in room. Upon waiting in line to check-in we received complimentary champagne and cookies. The check-in area was in a small room, and the wait was a bit long, but not unbearable. Once we received our room keys, we were guided to our room by the bell boy who was carrying our luggage.

The Room

The room was beautiful. Upon walking in, the bathroom was on the left, and a large wardrobe was on the right, which included an iron and ironing board. We had a king-sized bed, and a garden tub on our patio. The rooms either have a swim out pool or a tub on the patio. The bed is also very comfortable, so no worries about a relaxing slumber.

Food

We were hungry as soon as we checked in, so we immediately went to find food after checking out the room. There are 6 main restaurants on-site: El Patio which is Mexican Cuisine, Himitsu for Asian cuisine, Oceana for the seafood lovers, Portofino for Italian dining (adults only), Seaside Grill for grilled American food, and World Café which was a variety of buffet foods. All of the restaurants have clothing requirements, especially for men. Men always need to have on a shirt with sleeves. There are two other eateries – The Barefoot Grill for quick grilled foods, hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, and the Coco Café for deli snacks. We went to Seaside Grill and the food was delicious, or we may have been starving, either way, the chicken was seasoned very well, and the vegetables were a good complement.

We ate at the World Café every morning for breakfast and at barefoot grill almost every day for lunch. Over the 4 nights we were able to visit 3 of the main restaurants for dinner. Night 1 we ate at the World Café buffet. The food was okay as it is buffet style. On night 2 we ate dinner at Portofino, the meal was delicious, and we felt like we were in an upscale restaurant. There are random power outages, but it didn’t affect anything. We weren’t in a hurry to go anywhere, we were there to relax, and enjoy the resort. The staff was very nice during it all. We ate at Himitsu on night 3 and although I didn’t care for my sesame chicken, the fried rice was delectable….I asked for another bowl. LOL! Night 4 we were walking towards Oceana but ummm……wildlife (a skunk) sent me running in the other direction to World Café because it was close to our room.

Dreams Las Mareas Resort

As we walked around, we admired the beautiful resort grounds. The property is well maintained, and the staff is constantly working to keep everything looking beautiful. The trees, bushes, and grass are all landscaped very well. There are a couple hammocks on the property to relax, as well as multiple pools at this resort. There is also an adults-only pool area available. If you want to be at the pool closer to the beachfront, it may be hard to get a beach chair, but if you don’t have to be close to the beach there is a lot of availability at the other pools around the facility. There is also a water slide and a kids camp area on the property.

The resort has a lot to offer, and there is no need to venture off if you are truly there to just have a relaxing time. There is a gym onsite, as well as a beautiful spa available. There are daily activities to enjoy on the property including volleyball, non-motorized water sports, games, wine tastings, and more (schedule provided by housekeeping every day). The main event is the performance the dancers and talent provide every evening. After that, the deli on the 4th floor is open for late night snacks, ice cream and coffee. The nightclub is also open for those who enjoy dancing and nightlife. Bring a spiffy pair of shoes to dance the night away.

Adventure

We did have some rain during the week, but it didn’t stop our fun. We did all of our excursions through a great company located right on the beach called “Alex On The Beach.” The Mega Combo Tour is great if you are adventurous. It included horseback riding, zip lining, a mud bath, went down a waterslide, stopped to see how they make their sugar cane juice, ate some local treats, swam in the hot springs and had lunch. We also did an ATV tour, and went to three different beaches, as well as a local market. We also spotted some crabs just crawling on the road during our tour. It was interesting. It is also pretty easy to purchase discounted tickets in advance to most excursions you would be interested in trying.

As far as wildlife on property, we saw skunks, iguanas, racoons, and lizards. We didn’t see any monkeys on the property, but we did see some howler monkeys on the way to the resort. 😊

Good-bye

If you don’t mind a few animals roaming around you will be just fine at this resort. We were sad to leave but enjoyed every bit of our trip. The check-out process is very easy, and we had no issues. We didn’t wander off into the jungle or anything unsupervised, so we did not invest in any additional medical shots prior to visiting the area. We enjoyed the attractions in Costa Rica, and at the property. Dreams Las Mareas is a wonderful resort and I would highly recommend everyone take advantage of everything the facility has to offer. We enjoyed every bit of our 4-night 5 day stay at this resort, and you will too. You won’t regret it! Live, Love, and be Fulfilled!
